Chase it Down!

It is no secret that terriers have a high prey drive.

Lure Coursing is the perfect sport for Airedales!
A furry pelt, races around a track of string. The operator has the ability to speed up the pelt or change direction at anytime.

That furry critter whips around the yard like the REAL deal!

Here is one of my brothers, chasing it down.

This Saturday, I will be revisiting the Lure Course!
This time, I plan on catching it!

  5. Very impressive! I bet you're very quick when chasing after the lure. I once saw an American/Olde English bulldog chase one of those and boy, it was a lot quicker than I thought it would be!

  6. Hey Wyatt! Thanks for stopping by my blog! It's nice to meet ya! Boy, I'd really like to give that a try! I'm REAL GOOD at chasing things even though I'm just a 14 lb. Yorkie.

  11. You look like a pro! When momma was MUCH younger she had a whippet and they belonged to a lure coursing club...great exercise and LOTS of fun, she says...I am thinking not so much for us Eskies...agility, sure, but really we are more the sprint, then chill under a shade tree while rehydrating and eating noshes types!

  15. What fun and such great exercise. Wyatt burned a lot of calories and had a blast as well. We used to play a similar game in college, only we used beer as the lure ;-)

  19. Oh gosh that does looks the most fun a terrier could have, short of chasing a real life rat/fox/rabbit/squirrel/deer/whatever.

  20. Wowwee Wyatt!!! Hm, since I'm a terrier, maybe I would like to do that whole lure coursing thing too!!! :-D Thanks for you and your brother showing us how it's done dude! Now, must look up lure coursing!

  21. Not sure why but my assistant is laughing. Between you and me, I am a terrier and I have no prey drive

  22. Fun! I know my dogs both love lure coursing. We always do it with the AKC coursing club in our area to make sure the dogs stay safe, since a lure operator can injure the dogs if they don't know what they are doing. Where are you guys getting a chance to lure course?

    2. What fun. I was just wondering because I don't know of any lure coursing stuff in the Portland area. I did hear that there is going to be a Coursing Ability Test (CAT) in Vancouver in the beginning of July though. Maybe you guys are planning to go?
