Paws for a cause

This Saturday, I will be walking for a cure for Parkinson's Disease. I will be joining team Sammy and Tippy.
It's going to be a great event!
The entertainment is 'Blaze' the Portland Trailblazer Cat!
There is a look-a-like contest and a dog pie eating contest!

Did someone say pie?

I will be escorting my Westie cousin, 'Cassie'.

....And I have invited my BFF, Cuzin Cate.  Let the good times roll!

Hi, Wyatt's mom here.
2 months ago, my mom, known on our blog as 'Christmas Tree Grandma', because she has a Christmas tree farm, was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.

We have several relatives on both sides with this disease.

Do you have any loved ones with this disease?

My mom is tough and taking it all in stride.
Medication helps, but let's just find a cure!

If you live in the Portland, Oregon area, we would love it if you could join us this Saturday at 9am at the base of the OHSU tram. $20 gets you registered to walk with your dog, for a 1K or 4K and you get a really Pawesome T-shirt!

If you would like to contribute to our walk......no worries, we know there are so many good causes,
You can do so here, on our giving page.

We have set Wyatt's goal at $200. He has $50 so far!

See you Saturday!

  5. Hey guys. Walking for a cause is awesome. I'm sorry about your mom, Wyatt's mom.

Parkinson's is rare in our country. But our seniors can have dementia. Both diseases are awful.

By the way, I know this is probably a weird time to share something but has your mom tried turmeric? I've read once that the reason why Indians rarely encounter degenerative brain diseases is because of their diet which usually includes Turmeric. If you want to read more about Turmeric here's a link http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=foodspice&dbid=78

  9. Oh, I'm so very sorry about your Grandma Wyatt and Stanzie.
I sure hope she stays healthy and strong for a long time to come. (You know, I heard dog slobber is a WONDERFUL medication.....apply liberally!!!) I'll see if Ma has any "mad money" left in her sock drawer......

    Kisses,

    Ruby

  11. Sending our best thoughts for your Grandma, Wyatt and for Mom's Mom. We don't have any one in our family with Parkinson's but Mom says she has known many people with it. We wish we could join the walk, but we can at least make a small donation.

    Have fun walking, Wyatt.

  14. We are very sorry to hear about your grandma. We have friends who have this terrible disease...it is difficult to deal with especially when our friend is so very young...he is only in his 40's...and my daughter's friend was just diagnosed...she is in her 30's! We walk beside you as well. Walk with pride...we will be right there with you in spirit!
