Chef in My Garden...Year 10!!

For 10 years, a local non-profit, GROWING GARDENS has been hosting summer dinners in private gardens in the Portland metro area. This is our 3rd summer to attend and it has become one of the true highlights of the summer season!
Here are the top 10 things we loved about last Sunday's feast!

#10
Beautiful chickens living in 'Coupe de Ville'.

#9
The chickens had their very own KFC dart board!

#8
The table center pieces were edible.

#7
The garden was spectacular!

#6
There was a dog in the garden.

#5
The food!
Jason French from Ned Ludd

#4
The wine from Apolloni Vineyards.

#3
The dessert, a brown butter biscuit with fresh berries and cream.

#2
The fun...blowing on the conch shell after dinner.

The Cause
Growing Gardens works from the ground up, to promote urban, home scale food gardening where the need is greatest. Every time GROWING GARDENS installs a garden, they help bring individuals together by creating a space for interaction and conversation. By focusing their efforts in low income, urban neighborhoods and schools, they build a community where the need is greatest.

Thank you Growing Gardens!

  1. That is so wonderful. I help in my churches community garden that shows children how to grow stuff and harvest and then we supply St. Anne's Homeless Center with most of the bounty. Hundreds and hundreds of pounds of fresh veggies.
